ALBURY capped off a dream Albury-Wodonga Junior Football League under-12 season by defeating Wodonga Raiders by 11 points in yesterday’s grand final at Bunton Park.
The young Tigers were the only side across the four competitions to go through the home and away and finals series with an unblemished record.
But coach Tim Scott said his team had to work hard for the win against spirited opposition.
“Wodonga Raiders put us under a lot of pressure, but the boys kept persisting and eventually got there,” Scott said.
“They have been a great bunch to coach all year.
“It’s a good effort going through a season undefeated.
“They have worked hard and it’s good to see them get the rewards.”
Albury wingman Kyle Cooper was outstanding around the midfield while Jacob Hamilton performed admirably after being switched to full-back.
Darcy Harrington, Austin Shepherd and Eddie Ziebarth also played key roles.
Midfielder Isaac Robb won plenty of possessions for Wodonga Raiders but the team was unable to crack Albury’s defence which limited them to one goal for the match.
