Sneak thief’s knife attack

A police image of the man police wish to question.A BRAZEN burglar has stabbed a Cobram man several times in the neck and face in a home invasion that has shocked police.

The intruder broke into the Dudley Park Road home about 9.30pm on Friday, sneaked past a room in which the victim was entertaining friends and started gathering items to steal in a bedroom.

Police said there was a fight when the victim, 51, disturbed the intruder.

The victim was stabbed several times and taken to hospital.

His wounds were serious and he was flown to The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne on Saturday for surgery.

Police said he was now in a stable condition.

The intruder was punched in the head and face and could have bruising and swelling.

Cobram police Acting Sergeant Dave Griffith said the attack had shocked him.

“It was very brazen because there were four middle-aged adults there at the time,” he said.

The intruder managed to flee the scene with money, jewellery and credit cards.

Police now want to talk to anyone who saw something or who has any information.

The offender is said to be of medium height with an athletic build, Asian appearance and wearing a brown “hoodie”.

Police said the intruder had dropped a pair of black, rectangular prescription glasses as he fled.
